Choose the Right Breed of Dog For Your Home and Family

You should be conscious of the that dogs are made differently from each other and although some may have similar traits, they can never be that identical. Every individual has its own distinct characteristic that may in reality vary from another and the differences in disposition and character between the ranges of dog types may also differ. The key to be successful with your efforts to bring home a dog is knowing which breed of dog can be suitable to you or your family. The dog world presents to us a variety of dog breeds which are produced naturally as well as those types which are produced through the combination of two or more breeds such as the one called the Labradoodle – coming from the fusion of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle - this process is known to be as the cross-breeding.

Is your home suitable enough for a large dog? Obviously, knowing the size of dog that your home can handle is one thing that you should be able to think about. A large dog can have adequate space to run and play when placed in a house in the suburbs with a large yard. You might want your kids to have a pet that could be their cuddly playmate but is also sturdy enough. Are you hoping to get a guard dog for your home or business? Do you want to produce a show dog to enter competitions? Or maybe what you want as a pet is something that could remain as contented being inside your apartment with a size adequate enough to roam around your place as well as the kind of dog that can be true to you and would love the feel of your snuggle during the evening that you would find yourself relaxing in your couch. In searching for the kind of dog breed that may be right for you, these things are actually practical enough to be considered.

How many people live in your home? The kind of dog breed that knows how to control itself being alone and is able to entertain itself while left inside an apartment or household is a suitable pet for one person who works all day. A dog which can be gentle and patient with children, usually with the size ranging from medium to large is a kind of dog that a home with small kids is best to have. For small children, a dog is like a toy – the fact that a dog is one of the pets that they might get hurt with their rough kind of play is not something that they are truly aware about.

Some types would not tolerate the antics of small children, but would be great with mature youngsters. A dog for mature adults needs to be low maintenance, calm and undemanding.

There are two important classes to which dogs can be sorted – dogs that tend to lose hair and those dogs that don't really lose hair. Shedding hair is a huge complaint of dog keepers. You just can't avoid seeing that dog hair sticking on to your furniture, clothing and even to your guests who would chance to roam around your house. Don't be taken in by those short haired dogs because even though they may seem to be better to deal with, they too can shed. You can divide shedding with the barely shedding, seasonal only shedding hair and constant shedding.

You must remember that when you are choosing the size of the breed, both the height and weight issue should be considered. The sizes of the dog breeds in terms of their weight come in the ranges of under ten pounds for smaller dogs, 11-25 pounds is the typical weight of medium dogs, large dogs may weigh 26-50 pounds and the weight of about fifty one to eighty pounds is for extra large dogs. There are exceedingly large dogs which can weigh up to one hundred to one hundred and eighty pounds such as the Mastiffs and St. Bernards.

Is your furniture tough enough to stand anything that a dog can do? When you are trying to make a decision with regards to the perfect choice of the dog breed, expand your view of the dog in terms of its potential size and not only as you see him as a puppy. Expect big dogs to eat a lot of food to satisfy themselves. You should be ready to spend a great deal of money for dog food and care when you have decided to bring home a Mastiff.

Another fundamental thing to consider is the essence of care requirements. More grooming and care may be involved of some dog breeds while some of them can go with the basics. Those fancy trims are for show dogs like poodles and they too, would need or be given by some dog owners more time spent in the spa more than they pamper themselves. A weekly or even daily grooming should not be deprived to ordinary household dogs since they might need it to untangle their coats and to keep themselves in a good physical health. Take time to research the dog breed, size, disposition and grooming demands before you make a choice. You should know that in order to have a balanced relationship with the dog of your choice, you should be able to equip yourself with the basic requirements of your dog as well as the love and care that it may ask of you.
